Diagnosis Of Covid19 by PCR In Respiratory Symptoms by Triage in The Province of Manabí, Ecuador
Abstract
In late 2019, a new coronavirus emerged, causing the severe disease called severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (Sars-Cov-2). Covid19 disease was diagnosed by PCR in respiratory symptomatic, by TRIAGE in Manabí Province, Ecuador. A descriptive study was performed in respiratory symptomatic patients between August 2020 and April 2021 in general medicine outpatient clinic of a public health care center. The presence of Sars-Cov-2 was evaluated by RT-PCR test. Of 275 cases attended, 48.7% were positive for COVID19 (Sars-Cov-2). The average time between the onset of symptoms and the positive result for SARCOV2 (Covid19) was 7.3 days. Male gender accounted for 51%, and the highest age range was between 40 and 51 years (25.1%). The highest number of occupations was composed of drivers, tailors, bricklayers, and street vendors (38.9%). In terms of symptoms, headache was present (64.4%), followed by malaise (52.4%) and cough (45.5%). Arterial hypertension was observed in (41.7%), and type 2 diabetes mellitus with (25%). The RTPCR test for Sars-Cov-2 is essential in the triage of respiratory patients with high suspicion of having Covid disease19.
