Abstract
Tuberculosis is a disease that currently occurs in a higher rate of cases and infections in the world, and in Ecuador the health authorities implement activities and strategies to reduce the rates of mortality and infections in the territory. The objective of the research is to describe the treatment strategy directly observed in workers with tuberculosis, to improve the quality and lifestyle of workers affiliated with the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute. The research approach is quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional, applying the survey to a population and sample of 30 patients diagnosed with tuberculosis. The data obtained indicate that 70% of the registered cases are men, 47% are between 44 and 56 years old, 57% of the patients are in a low socioeconomic level, 57% have secondary studies, 63% of the patients are in the initiation phase, the main additional pathologies found are diabetes 43% and HIV 27%, 63% of the patients feel unmotivated to continue the treatment. It describes the importance of contributing to propose strategies that allow improving patient adherence to directly observed treatment, the study makes it possible to recommend that companies assume social responsibility to apply actions to guarantee adherence to treatment of workers diagnosed with tuberculosis and thus reduce the rate of abandonment to antifimic treatment.
